Almost everyone is fascinated by the things that they can not explain. It is in our human nature to strive for understanding. Our minds can not rest until we have turned over every stone and solved every riddle this world has put in place for us. Therefore, it is obvious why so many people are curious about ghost and haunted houses. These things capture our attention because we need to find the answers behind the mystery. We are captivated by the things we can't see, and it brings a sense of distance and excitement because it takes us away from the everyday norm. What causes these events? Why are some places haunted and others not? Are the apparitions, sounds, and other strange events that so many people have witnessed the product of scientific anomalies? Are these events the result of a parallel deminsion that has merged into our own in certain locations? Are these events the result of a spiritual realm that is parallel to our own, and in certain locations the two collide? A few of these may seem ridiculous to some, but the truth is we have barely began to uncover the secrets of the paranormal. It is a slow process, but with each investigation, paranormal research and investigation groups find more pieces of the puzzle.

Investigating a place that is claimed to be haunted can be fun and exciting, but there are several things that should be taken into consideration before any investigation takes place.

1. Always make sure that you have permission to be on the property. Trespassing is illegal...........
2. Always make sure that the property owner knows you are there to conduct an investigation. It is a good idea to get consent from the owner in writing prior to any investigation.
3. Be aware of your surroundings. Do Not investigate in locations that are unsafe. Good rule of thumb, if you aren't sure the place is safe then don't do it.
4. Don't investigate if you are not serious about the paranormal field. Investigating paranormal claims looks fun and exciting on TV and it can be fun, but it can also be DANGEROUS in more ways than one. Make sure that you properly RESEARCH and EDUCATE yourself about the paranormal field before you get involved.
5. The client should always be top priority. In many cases, the client is looking for professional people to help them with a problem in which they don't understand. Be respectful, courteous, and compliant with the client. REMEMBER....it is the clients property and not yours.
6. Treat the clients possesions as if they were your own. You wouldn't want a bunch of people you barely know messing around with your personal belongings. Don't touch anything that does not pertain to the investigation, and be as careful as possible that you do not damage anything on the property.
7. When the investiagtion is complete, make sure you leave the property in the same conditions as it was when you arrived. Don't leave trash behind, and put back any items that may have been moved during the investigation.
8. Last but not least, BE HONEST. NEVER EVER fake evidence, and NEVER tell a client that there property is HAUNTED unless you are 100% certain.

There are so many people wanting to investigate the paranormal just because they see all of the paranormal TV shows and think that it is cool and harmless. In many cases, it is harmless, but there is a darker side to the paranormal that many don't think about. Investigating can be DANGEROUS if you are dealing with a demonic or inhuman spirit. Not only is it possible to be physically attacked, but you can be spiritually and mentally attacked as well. It is probably true that a spritual or mental attack from a demonic or inhuman spirit can be worse than a physical attack. Once agian, make sure that you properly RESEARCH and EDUCATE yourself before going into a paranormal investigation.
